I recently started reading ‘Reclaiming Our Democracy,’ by Sam Daley-Harris, Founder of RESULTS Educational Fund. The book largely focuses on the issue of world hunger, but some of the chapters hit on larger themes in line with our mentality here at UpStream Ideas. This post will act as the first in a series of open questions for our audience inspired by our recent readings and study.
Daley-Harris introduces an idea becoming more prevalent in academic conversations about how our attitude and perspective going into a problem will shape the end results.
“The ideas feed the final outcome. You might say predict the final outcome. If the predominate ideas are ‘it can’t be done,’ or ‘hunger is inevitable,’ or ‘there are no solutions,’ then the final outcome will be congruent with these ideas” (pg. 2).
